Inter-American Foundation (IAF) Fellowships

IAF is a US Government agency that funds self-help initiatives of the organized poor in Latin America and the Caribbean. IAF Fellowships support dissertation research;the applicant’s research must be related to topics on grassroots development in the region. Applicants must be US citizens or citizens of the independent Latin American or Caribbean countries. Proficiency in the language(s) appropriate to the research is required. Proposals should offer a practical orientation to field-based information. The fellowship includes air fare, a monthly stipend, a research allowance and health insurance.

Fellowships are available to currently registered students who will have advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D. (or other doctoral program) in the social sciences, physical sciences, technical fields and other disciplines (as related to their relationship with grassroots development issues) by their proposed start date (between June 1 and March 31 of the application year). Applications for clinical research in the health field will NOT be considered.
