Course of Study: Executive MS in Systems Science — Health Systems Concentration

UG Background: BA Psychology & Sociology

Current Position: Director of Quality Performance Improvement, Anesthesiology Department, Northwell Health - Lenox Hill Hospital

Email: khom1@binghamton.edu

As a Business Development & Performance Improvement Specialist at MZL Home Care Agency, I work closely with the contracts, operations, and purchasing departments to ensure that various systems are running smoothly. These systems range from contract credentialing and billing processes, to streamlining referral and intake procedures, to redesigning and tracking purchase orders, inventory distribution, and financial spending patterns. These experiences have inspired me to constantly find ways to improve system efficiency and efficacy in order to provide better outcomes for the patients we service, as well as our internal teams and external vendors. As a Psychology and Sociology major during my undergraduate studies also at Binghamton University, I am passionate about helping others gain an improved sense of well-being. This passion to impact the lives of others on a micro level, coupled with my administrative responsibilities at MZL Home Care Agency, encouraged me to pursue the Executive Master of Science in Health Systems at Binghamton University's Manhattan campus. The vigorous and comprehensive coursework in systems science and industrial engineering, as well as esteemed professors and faculty, all educate, challenge, and support me in my academic and professional growth that I am enthusiastic to continue to cultivate and apply in the healthcare systems domain. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in healthcare systems science to ask any questions that arise and consider applying to the program. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about the program!
