JoEllen is a lecturer in the Theatre Department at Binghamton University where she teaches Jazz and Tap dance. At Binghamton University, she has choreographed the musical theatre productions Urinetown, The ThreePenny Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, Man of La Mancha, Hairspray, Rent, A Chorus Line and Spring Awakening. At Binghamton University, she has directed/choreographed her original dance works including Pygmalion (2010), A Broken Key (2012) Cosmogony (2013), 7 Deadly Sins (2014) and Orpheus (2015, Co-Choreographer) and annual holiday dance production since 2016 - Jazz Nutcracker.

Off campus, she has choreographed Beehive for Florida Studio Theatre, Faust for Tri Cities Opera, ACDFA award-winning choreography for Drumbone at the University of Nebraska, The King and I for Binghamton University Summer Theatre, and coached the Binghamton University Bearcats Dance Team. She is an Instructor/Choreographer for the competitive team at Kathy Hansen School of Dance. She earned her BA from Point Park University in 2003 with a concentration in Jazz Dance, and was a member of the Conservatory Dance Company at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
