Carol Hanscom has enjoyed a long association with the Binghamton University Theatre Department where she teaches acting as an adjunct lecturer. Directing credits for the department include “Proof,” “Reckless,” “Mauritius,” “Don't Dress for Dinner” and “The Lying Kind.” In 2007, she appeared in “All My Sons,” a Binghamton University production which was invited to be performed at the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in Beijing. Her university credits extend to co-directing “Noises Off” and a bilingual production of “A Midsummer Night's Dream” (2013), which was subsequently performed in Valparaiso and Santiago, Chile.
While the Alumni Association travel program lasted, Hanscom served as a tour escort for theater trips to London, Dublin, Buenos Aires, Greece and Italy. Off campus, she is a longtime member of the Cider Mill Playhouse acting company and directed “A Christmas Carol” (a show she co-wrote along with all the original cast members) every year as a gift of thanks to the community. For many years Hanscom was the co-founder, co-producer and resident playwright of the touring children's theater company known as the “Appleseed Players,” which toured throughout New York state as well as NYC and northern Pennsylvania. None of her accomplishments would mean anything without the love and support of Tom and Peter Kremer.
