Twice a year the Fleishman Career Center provides specialized training called the International Student Boot Camp providing international student specific training in resumes, interviewing, international-friendly employment and networking dates and information.
Research U.S. Employment Regulations
In order to participate in an internship or pursue a full-time position in the US, international students must know the US Employment Regulations.
When you are considering any employment opportunity please visit the International
Student and Scholar Services office to ensure you complete all the steps required
before you commit to a start date.
Binghamton’s ISSS website OPT and CPT training sessions are provided through the year.
Find jobs from International-Friendly Employers
There are certain companies and government agencies that do not allow foreign nationals to work at their facilities, so you must focus on the organizations that do hire international students Binghamton’s GoinGlobal page has employers who have sponsored international applicants with H1B visas.
Add US experience to resume and LinkedIn Profile
Employers want to see how you have managed the US work environment, assimilated to
the local culture, and showed committed local ties and relationships.
Complete an internship with a company or a research project in a university lab in order to demonstrate you’ve had experience in the local work environment.
