The Youth Focused Department at WSKG Public Media has a summer internship opportunity available for a student currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited two- or four-year college in the field of K-12 Education, Health & Wellness, Outreach, or a related discipline.

Description:
This internship opportunity will allow the intern to participate in regional educational events as well as work within localized PBS KIDS initiatives. In addition, the student will be exposed to and participate in the behind-the-scenes activities of this region’s public broadcasting station.
The intern will work closely with the Community Outreach Coordinator, as well as with the Director of Youth Focused Content Development, Services & Programming, and be given specific responsibilities within the scope of his or her coursework. Possible responsibilities may include: (1) Assisting at outreach events and with general departmental projects; (2) Helping to plan teacher training, and developing packets, promotions and communications with school districts in support of the Stride with Pride program; and (3) Assessing short segments of the MOVE IT! program to develop companion materials that serve as activity extensions within PreK-2 and K-5 classroom settings, and in alignment with both Early Childhood and K-5 Learning Standard. Quantity and schedule of hours will be flexible and in accordance with the school’s program requirements, and may include some nights and weekends.
The Education Health & Wellness internship is a learning experience and the intern will not be paid for services, but the intern will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the internship period.
