The Fleishman Career Center plans and organizes numerous annual events and programs. These signature events are designed to provide students with opportunities and connections to support them in their career and self-development.

The Fleishman Career Center plans Job and Internship Fairs every semester. Students of all majors and class years are encouraged to participate
in these fairs to network with representatives from organizations recruiting for job
and internship opportunities. Even if a student is not ready to apply for jobs or
internships yet, attending the Job and Internship Fair is recommended as a way to
explore career options, grow their professional networks and get comfortable interacting
with employers.
- Fall: The fall Job and Internship Fair is the largest campus recruiting event of the year and typically has about 150 employers and 2,000 students in attendance. This fair is held in the Events Center and is a way for any student to explore opportunities across all industries.
- Spring: The spring Job and Internship Fairs are more industry-specific events. Typically, 2–3 fair options are offered, and students are welcome to attend any and all. The more focused fair format allows students to browse employers in a narrower industry range that align closely with their interests.

The CONNECT program is an opportunity for students to explore organizations and industries in a variety
of cities across the country and connect with alumni from some of our largest alumni
populations. Designed for career exploration and development, CONNECT allows students
to explore a city of interest, connect with alumni and local professionals and get
insider access to different organizations. The program is a collaboration between
the Fleishman Career Center and the Office of Alumni Engagement.
CONNECT consists of a series of Employer Treks and Networking Nights.
- Employer Treks are in-person visits to company offices. Each is unique because the agenda is determined by the hosting organization. However, most consist of a few of the following elements: a recruiting presentation, office tour, panel discussion with different employees, networking opportunities and a question and answer session. Students who attend Employer Treks get the inside scoop about hiring at the organization and have an opportunity to network with employees.
- The Alumni Association hosts a Networking Night with local alumni during every CONNECT program. This is an opportunity for students to connect with alumni living and working in that particular area to ask questions and network. Participating alumni also have an opportunity to meet other local Bearcats.

The Fleishman Career Center’s Student Employment Initiative hosts an On-Campus Part-Time Job Fair every semester to connect students with on-campus employment opportunities. The fair
exposes students to a wide variety of open positions across campus that span many
different offices, job functions and applicant qualifications. Students of all majors
and class years are invited to attend these fairs and explore job opportunities.

The Diversity Roundtable connects students and employers who are passionate about fostering diversity in the
workplace. Students can learn about opportunities and resources designed to recruit
diverse talent and tailored to supporting those with diverse backgrounds in their
transition from college to career. A primary focus of this event is to educate students
about the value of networking and better understand diversity practices in the workplace
to assist with job and internship searches.
The Fleishman Career Center develops and provides prompts to help spark conversation
amongst small groups of students and employers. There is also a speed networking-style
portion where attendees rotate tables and have an opportunity to discuss the topics
with more individuals. A complementary networking dinner is provided for all attendees.
The Multicultural Career Fair flip turns a traditional career fair upside down so that students table for employers.
Multicultural groups have an opportunity to table at this event and bring posters,
photos and samples to showcase projects, events and initiatives the group has been
working on. Organization executive board and general body members are encouraged to
bring their resumes and show off their organization to attending employers. The employer
representatives have an opportunity to browse the tables, learn about impressive projects
student groups have put together, and connect with talented student leaders.
The Fleishman Career Center partners with JCPenney to offer an exclusive discount
on career wear for Binghamton students, faculty, staff and alumni. The JCPenney Suit-Up is intentionally coordinated around the Job and Internship Fairs to ensure that students
can find attire for the fair at an affordable price. Students have also used the discount
to purchase clothing for jobs, internships, CONNECT events, interviews and other career-related
events that come up. The Suit-Up event includes an in-store shopping experience and
an online discount code so participants have an opportunity to choose how they shop.
Partners and sponsors provide gift cards that are randomly distributed at the in-person
event to maximize student savings.
Approximately half of Binghamton undergraduate students continue their education through
graduate and professional programs. Every year, the Fleishman Career Center organizes
a Graduate and Professional Schools fair for students interested in post-graduate educational opportunities. Representatives
from a wide variety of programs from across the country attend to answer student questions.
The fair is an opportunity for students to learn more about programs that interest
them, discover new programs they may not otherwise have heard of and get tips from
representatives about how to stand out as an applicant. All students who are interested
in graduate school are encouraged to attend, whether they are only beginning to consider
their possibilities or are actively working on applications.
The Fleishman Career Center collaborates with Harpur Pre-Law Advising to organize
the Law School Admissions Fair and annual Law Day Networking Breakfast event. This event brings in representatives from ABA-approved law schools from across
the country. All students considering law school are encouraged to attend to explore
program options, network with representatives and learn about how to stand out as
an applicant to competitive programs.
KICKSTART Your Career is a pre-arrival program designed to support incoming first-year students in the
career exploration process. The program features collaborative programs led by career
consultants and peer mentors that educate students on skills and resources for exploring
career paths and finding opportunities. Participating students develop a career action
plan, build a network of peers and staff, connect to on-campus resources and learn
how to use the job and internship platform hireBING. Students are also paired with
a peer mentor who can be a resource to them during their time at Binghamton.
The Fleishman Career Center staff collaborates with Student Transition and Success
to organize the Transfer Summit, an event that aims to bring together transfer students and provide them with invaluable
resources and connections at their new institution. Designed specifically for transfers,
the Transfer Summit introduces students to various campus departments and knowledgeable
staff, enlightening them about the wide range of resources available to support their
academic, career and personal success. Not only does this event empower transfer students
to navigate their new college environment with confidence, but it also fosters a sense
of community by offering them the opportunity to connect with fellow transfers. Transfer Cafe events are held monthly in the Fleishman Career Center to continue to foster this community
created at the Transfer Summit and help connect transfer students to programs and
resources throughout the year.

Faculty, student organizations and staff can request a tailored Fleishman Career Center presentation for their class or group. Simply fill out our program request form to indicate your topic choice and preferred date, and a staff member will reach out to coordinate the presentation. Career consultants will prepare a presentation specific to the needs and questions of your group.
