Prescription Drug Benefit

Your HTH Worldwide insurance includes a prescription drug benefit called Universal RX. It allows students and scholarship to a one-month supply of covered prescription drugs at a participating pharmacy. A small co-pay of $10 for generic drugs and $20 for brand drugs is required.  The co-pay is the amount you pay the pharmacy.  HTH insurance pays the pharmacy the remaining cost. To locate a participating pharmacy, sign into the web site, click on “Doctors, Hospitals and Pharmacies” and then click on “United States Pharmacy Search”. Almost all national pharmacy chains and a large number of local pharmacies participate with Universal RX. In Binghamton, that includes CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreen’s, Wegman’s, Wal-Mart and Target pharmacies, and others.

Your Universal RX coverage begins when you are enrolled with HTH Worldwide. Your Universal RX ID card is on the back of your HTH Worldwide ID card. Once you are enrolled, HTH will notify you of the availability to access and print your insurance ID card. Notification is through your Binghamton University e-mail account. This usually occurs three to four weeks after the start of a semester. If you need to use your insurance ID card to purchase prescription drugs before you are notified of your ID card availability, please contact the ISSS health insurance team at or call 607-777-2510 to request a copy of your card. If you try to purchase prescription drugs without your ID card you will have to pay the entire cost of the drug at the time of purchase and then submit a claim to HTHWorldwide Insurance to receive reimbursement.

Covered dependents on your policy are also covered by the prescription drug plan.

If enrolled students and scholars have any problems obtaining prescription drugs at a participating pharmacy, they may contact Universal RX customer service at 1-888-243-2358, or contact the ISSS Health Insurance Team at, or call us at 607-777-2510.
