Background

Junko Ikeda Schwartzman, also known as Ikeda-sensei, has been teaching Japanese language at Binghamton University since 2017. Starting in the fall of 2023, she started the role of coordinator for the Japanese program.

Before joining Binghamton University, Junko had the opportunity to teach at various academic institutions, including the SISA Language School in South Korea, Purdue University, Rutgers University and SUNY New Paltz.

At Binghamton University, Junko has been working on the development and instruction of a variety of Japanese language courses, including elementary Japanese, advanced Japanese and business Japanese. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to enhancing her teaching methods, curriculum development and promoting cross-cultural communication and understanding.
