2026-2027 Academic Guide Contributor's Resources

Welcome to the contributor’s guide for the 2026-2027 Academic Guide. This website is meant as a resource for those who are writing, editing, and/or contributing material to the creation of the upcoming academic year’s Academic Guide. As a contributor to the Academic Guide, we ask that you review this material to ensure that the Academic Guide is consistent throughout and fulfills its purpose in helping our students on their path to a great education here at Binghamton University.

For assistance with the Modern Campus Catalog software, please see our Catalog Guide.

Writing and Editing Guide: Outlines general guidelines for writing the Academic Guide, including best practices and policies for making changes to the Academic Guide.

Required Academic Program Template: A template to use when creating the information page for department programs.

We will offer office hours by appointment on zoom for assistance with your Guide pages and using the software. Please email us to set up an appointment. If you have any questions not answered on this resources site, please direct them to the Undergraduate Education office.

Academic Guide Writing Timeline

October 1 2025 - March 20, 2026: The Academic Guide is open for editing to all departments (academic and non-academic) and dean’s offices.

Dean’s Offices: Determine your editing timeline and communicate it with your department representatives. We recommend you leave yourself at least a month (four weeks) to conduct your reviews before undergrad/graduate begin our reviews. This is also a good time to read your school/college page and make sure all of the information is up-to-date. Please let departments know they still need to review their pages, even if they are not making changes.

Please fill out the Sign-Off sheets for your pages when you have finished reviewing them.

You will also be given access to your school/college’s DegreeWorks sheet and Faculty Lists. Please distribute the faculty lists to the necessary persons for updating.

Academic Departments: Check with your dean’s offices if you have any questions about your editing timelines. Even if you do not have program changes for this academic year, please read your program and department pages to verify that all of the information is still correct, as undergraduate education does work on the Guide during non-editing season.

Please fill out the Sign-Off sheets for your pages when you have finished reviewing them.

Non-Academic Departments: Please review all of your pages (yours are in the “custom pages” section), even if you have not made changes this editing cycle, for any out-of-date information.

February 23, 2026: Faculty Lists due back to Undergraduate Education.

March 23 - April 17, 2026: Undergraduate Education and Graduate School reviews. During this review we will still make critical substantive changes to the Guide, but not formatting/style changes.

Dean’s Offices: If you have not already done so, please fill out your DegreeWorks sheets. Please verify with your departments that they did review all of their department and program pages for any changes or out-of-date information.

All Departments: If you have not already done so, please read your program, department, and/or custom pages to ensure there are no errors or missing information. At this point we will only make critical, substantive changes to program and policy information.

April 20 - May 1, 2026: Final Review begins. This is the last week to ensure that all necessary changes to the Guide have been made. We can not guarantee any changes will be made after publication.

Dean’s Offices: Please ensure that your DegreeWorks sheet is finished. Please make sure that school/college and department websites and handbooks are updated to match requirements and policies listed in the Guide.

All Departments: Please make sure that your department websites and student handbooks are updated to match requirements and policies listed on your Guide pages.

May 4, 2026: Guide is published!

May 5-12, 2026: Next year’s Academic Guide (2027-2028) is copied from the 2026-2027 Guide. Curriculum proposal forms are taken down and new forms are tested and activated.

***Next year’s Academic Guide (2027-2028) will be made the day after the 2026-2027 Guide is published so we can roll-over our curriculum forms. This is why it is essential that all revisions are completed prior to publication, because any changes made after will have to be manually entered into both Guides. Timely revisions ensure we do not miss adding any late changes to the 2027-2028 Guide, risking they are forgotten the following year.
