Overview of the Self-Study process
Binghamton University has launched a multi-year institutional self-study as part of its reaffirmation of accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The process provides a valuable opportunity for the University to examine its effectiveness, celebrate achievements, and identify opportunities to enhance programs, services, governance, and planning.
Through inclusive participation and evidence-based analysis, the Self-Study will help shape the University’s future direction.
Key Milestones
- Self-Study Design Report Due: January 2026
- MSCHE VP Liaison Self-Study Preparation Visit: April 2026
- Evaluation Team Visit: Fall 2028
- MSCHE Reaffirmation Decision: Spring 2029
Purpose of the Self-Study
The Middle States Self-Study is a comprehensive, University-wide evaluation that demonstrates how Binghamton University meets the MSCHE Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation. It also provides an opportunity to integrate institutional mission, strategic priorities, assessment practices, and resource planning into a cohesive narrative about institutional quality and continuous improvement.
