
D’Alleva was selected as the next president of Binghamton University in a vote by the State University of New York Board of Trustees. D’Alleva, currently the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Connecticut, is scheduled to begin her duties on Nov. 1.

The University received a record 74,725 applications this year, which includes 61,200 first-year, 4,575 transfer and more than 8,950 graduate student applications for fall 2025 admission.

As deputy director of the American Civic Association in Binghamton, Laila Hernandez, '13, MPA '18, helps immigrants and refugees start a new life in the United States, a job becoming increasingly difficult because of federal policy and funding changes.

The new building will not replace the original and current Lecture Hall building but will supplement the campus with additional space. Altogether, this project will add nearly 50 rooms to Binghamton’s catalog, with more than 1,900 new seats.
