Description: Food insecurity is a growing concern within college and university settings,
presenting a notable obstacle to the success of students. A considerable number of
students arrive on campus with restricted resources and minimal skills in addressing
their basic needs. The challenge of hunger hampers their ability to study, sleep and
participate in academic and social pursuits at the same capacity as their peers. Failing
to fulfill our students' physiological requirements diminishes their likelihood of
reaching their full potential and negatively impacts their overall experience at Binghamton
University.

Veteran Comfort Kit Drive

The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross needs you to build comfort kits
to provide military heroes with simple personal care items that many of us take for
granted. Kits include: toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, nail clippers,
toothpaste, conditioner, combs and razors. Items must be new and travel-sized. Build
your kit by placing the above items inside one-gallon clear plastic zip bags. Drop
off kits at the collection box at the Alumni Center reception desk on the first floor
of Old O’Connor Hall.

Got mulch? Volunteer for the 2024 Binghamton University Alumni Global Days of Service
with Binghamton University Women! The Memorial Courtyard, located in the center of the Fine Arts Building, is dedicated to the memory of the
15 alumni who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. As in years
past, volunteers will weed and mulch garden beds to prepare this special contemplative
place for spring. This project is open to Binghamton University Women members, and
members of the University's Advancement Team. Wear outdoor work clothes and boots
or sneakers that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring your work gloves, shovels, clippers,
leaf rakes, garden rakes and spades. Wheelbarrows and mulch will be provided. Volunteers
will meet in the hallway outside of the Art Museum in the Fine Arts Building, adjacent
to the Memorial Courtyard. Park in the garage and we will provide a free pass to exit.

Broome County Parks Department Cleanup at Aqua Terra Park

Description: Formerly the site of the Aqua-Terr Sportsman’s club and Innsbruck USA
ski area, this undeveloped Broome County Park consists of 466 acres of bountiful wildlife
and natural settings. The park also consists of a six-acre pond offering fishing opportunities
and wildlife watching. However, over the winter months, this area has collected a
lot of trash and debris that have impacted the local environment and wildlife. Volunteers
will help clean up this park, removing trash and debris, to have a positive impact
on the environment and wildlife. Volunteers will also help clear debris from the various
trails throughout the park for visitors to enjoy this spring. Wear closed-toe shoes
and weather-appropriate clothing. Work gloves would be helpful.
Mercy House of the Southern Tier: Spring Cleaning and Supply Drive

Description: Mercy House is a community care shelter which provides a home and support
to people with terminal illnesses who can no longer remain at home. The mission of
Mercy House is to unconditionally accept each resident and ensure that they are treated

to the cost of their care. Volunteers will do spring cleaning at Mercy House. Courtney

welfare organization. It serves the community by sheltering animals, finding them

Broadway Community, Inc., is a 40-year-old Morningside Heights-based human services
agency that serves individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty through a broad
range of programs including an overnight shelter, soup kitchen, on-site medical services,
showers and more. Volunteers will help prepare and distribute breakfast and lunch
to guests of the soup kitchen; work with the chef and other volunteers to create elements

LONG ISLAND
Long Island National Cemetery Assistance

Long Island National Cemetery is one of the largest and oldest vational Veterans'
cemeteries in the country and serves as the final resting place to more than 350,000
service members and their family members. Volunteers will assist the cemetery’s staff
with spring cleaning, including mulching and light planting of flowers and any similar
tasks. The cemetery staff is often unable to complete these tasks and uses its limited
funding to hire help when needed. Volunteers should wear work clothing suitable for
raking, mulching and planting. Work gloves are useful. Most of the needed equipment
will be provided by the cemetery staff. The minimum volunteer age is 10 (with responsible
adult).

The Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley is a 12-bedroom house adjacent
to The Maria Ferrari Childrens Hospital in Westchester. It provides hope, help and
a home away from home for families of critically ill children at the hospital. We
will be painting and decorating wooden keepsake boxes and will enclose kind words
of encouragement as well as surprises inside the boxes to be given to the families.
Please wear comfortable clothes. Expect to get a bit messy. Also, wear warm clothes;

Love Your Water - Spring Cleanup

Join Potomac Conservancy for a safe, fun, trash cleanup at Anacostia Park. Make a huge difference for the

Park is a five-minute walk from the Anacostia Metro Station (green line). Wear closed-toed

Description: As plants are grown sustainably they need lots of care. Nursery management
for volunteers include transplanting, propagation, fertilising and watering the plants,
pest control – whatever needs to get done! Besides giving back, the alumni will also
learn about sustainable solutions (water and waste), biodiversity conservation and
climate change. The planting and propagation of plants at Taman Tugu Nursery are geared
towards providing other parks and urban forests with native rainforest trees. We're
