Project Description
Are you interested in be a part of a nation-wide organization that is actively fighting to find a cure for a rare auto-immune disease for Scleroderma? Are you a caring and empathetic person with the time in your schedule to help support others? If you've answered yes to either of these questions I would encourage you to join the Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter as a Support Group Co-Leader. We are looking for passionate and motivated individuals to join of Support Group Leader Team. All of our meetings are being held over virtual platforms like Zoom so familiarity with technology is a must. Due to our virtual platform we can now reach out to even more volunteers since geographical location is no longer a barrier!

Qualifications:

- Familiar with technology and online meeting platforms like zoom
- Anyone (whether they have a diagnosis of Scleroderma or not) who is interested in expanding their knowledge on this rare auto-immune disease in order to help others
- Willingness to participate in online support group training programs like the Scleroderma Patient Information Network's Scleroderma Support Group Leader Education (SSLED)
- Background in Nursing, social work, human services or pharmacology is preferred but not required

Responsibilities:

- Host Zoom meetings on a monthly basis to engage support group members
- When necessary reach out to members to encourage participation and to provide additional support
- Stay up to date with the Scleroderma Foundation's activities by attending bi-monthly support group leader task group meeting
- Organize members to join in our walks and other fun fundraising events!
- Participate in the monthly support group provided exclusively to support group leaders to make this a sustainable position and to prevent compassion fatigue and burnout!
