Project Description
The Broome County Public Library hosts "Tech Thursday" every Thursday afternoon from 1-3 pm. It is an opportunity for community members to receive one on one assistance with a variety of technology questions. These are typically more basic type questions on topics such as accessing email accounts, downloading apps, using a new tablet/phone/laptop, and troubleshooting technology problems. The community members are most typically older adults.

We are looking for 1-4 volunteers to help run the program. You will work one on one with people to answer their questions. Each session lasts 20 minutes.

You do not need advanced technology skills; however, you should have intermediate-level skills, especially in using different types of devices, and different types of apps, and navigating the internet. You should also be comfortable teaching adults, have a good amount of patience, and have the ability to troubleshoot problems and think on your feet.
Requirements
Training Required:
Yes - Training will involve: information on the library, our policies, and the patrons we work with; a run down of the program and the chance to shadow a staff member for the first session; a tour of the building; and an introduction to other staff members.
Immunization Proof:
No
Application Needed:
Yes - You will need to fill out a brief application before you start volunteering.
Other Requirements:
Volunteers need to be 18 years or older. If you are not over the age of 18, we will need an adult to sign off on your application. This can be a professor, advisor, coach, or someone else on campus, as long as they know you and are over the age of 18. Masks are not required at the library, but we do recommend them.
