Project Description
Internship Description:
This internship reports to the Talent and Education Director, whose primary responsibility is developing a talent pipeline in the Greater Binghamton area by connecting businesses to K-12 schools. The Talent and Education Director additionally oversees the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP), a 501c-3 affiliate of GBCC. GBEOP's mission is to build bridges between schools, businesses and leaders within the Greater Binghamton community to promote technical and professional career development for current and future workforce participants. Current GBEOP programs include Junior Achievement, SPARK, the Broome Leadership Institute (BLI) and Launch Pad. This internship may also assist with other workforce development and talent retention programs run by the GBCC.

Applicants should be interested in education and policy reform relating to career readiness, connecting businesses and students, program research, development and evaluation, event planning, and non-profit management.

Responsibilities:
• Research and assistance in program development for a Broome County K-12 talent pipeline
• Assist in communications to schools and businesses to determine pipeline needs
• Assist in planning and execution of family career night programming in schools
• Assist in evaluation of current programs
• Research and evaluate pipeline programs in other areas for feasibility in Greater Binghamton
• Maintaining and dispersing supplies for Junior Achievement programming
• Organization of records for programs, BLI Alumni Association board, and GBEOP
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of a non-profit such as marketing and grant writing
• Assist in other GBEOP and GBCC programming as needed

Qualifications:
• Current student, must receive credit
• Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Preferred experience with event planning
• Ability to keep confidentiality
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, comfort with new technologies
• Preferred experience with Access database
• Availability between 8 and 4 Monday through Friday (with some evening/weekend events) to complete 10-20 hours a week (depending on internship credit hours)
