University-Assisted Community Schools Implementation

University-Assisted Community Schools (UACS) leverage the human, material, financial, and academic resources of the university, school districts, and community agencies to reduce barriers to learning for students in PK-12.

The Binghamton University Center for Community Schools is proud to lead UACS implementation efforts in Broome, Tioga, and Chenango counties. In partnership with local school districts and community agencies, Binghamton University Center for Community Schools:
  • Places social workers in training within local schools and provides ongoing mental health professional development for interns and school employees
  • Develops academic partnerships with schools to work on local, community-based problem solving and research
  • Supports schools in their efforts to become more equitable, engaging, and supportive learning environments
