Binghamton 2 Degrees: Live at Confluence Park is a community arts and music festival for artists in the Southern Tier whose work explores the issue of place and climate change. This is broadly conceived. We are interested in work that engages with the natural environment, human communities, connection, and relationships, or the human impact on community and planetary health. For example, work that engages with the natural beauty or urban environment of Broome County or work that speaks to family, home, and community. We would also consider artists who would like to highlight their sustainable artistic practices.

If you are accepted, you will be paid $250 to exhibit a sample of your work. You will be provided a table’s worth of space under a canopy that you may use any way you please. You must be present to discuss your work with attendees the day of the festival. We will provide a table, canopy, and chairs which will be located either in Confluence Park or the river walk along the Chenango River north of the park along the path from festival parking. We particularly welcome interactive aspects of your work such as demonstrations that would engage families and kids in art. In case of rain, we will provide this space in the nearby Roberson Museum.

The festival will be a family-friendly event that will include live music, art and creative writing exhibitions and workshops. We hope this event will serve as a catalyst to motivate a sense of community who can advocate for policy reform together, and for work that inspires viewers to take action in whatever way makes sense to them.

To apply, please provide a short description of the artist and the artwork, and how the work fits into the festival theme. If you’re interested in leading a workshop for children and/or adults, include a description of what you’d like to do and how it relates to the theme. Please include 5 or fewer images of your work that will be displayed. Accepted artists will be informed by August 1.
