Go Green Institute

The program is led by a dedicated group of Binghamton University faculty members and graduate students, as well as faculty from SUNY Broome and teachers from local school districts. The Go Green Institute brings together middle and high school students for an intensive 10-day, hands-on learning experience centered on the theme of a greener living environment. The institute helps students explore issues of science, math and engineering as they relate to creating a sustainable living environment. Activities include experiments in University research labs and field trips to the University's Nature Preserve and Center of Excellence. Participants develop their own research project on topics related to energy generation, storage and use.

Go Green Institute's goals are to give middle and high school students an opportunity to:

  • Explore the science and engineering of a sustainable living environment.
  • Learn about career opportunities in science, engineering and math.
  • Gain experience with advanced science concepts in preparation for the future.
  • Learn and have fun with science safely.

The program accomplishes these goals using a variety of resources that are available here at Binghamton University. View this video  to learn more about the program.
