Dear Bearcats,

Welcome to – or back to – Binghamton University!

We're thrilled you're here because Binghamton University is an extraordinary institution with a great deal to offer, and we hope you'll take the time to explore and embrace the many opportunities you will find here.

Some changes have taken place at the University this summer, so I am both honored and excited to be your interim dean of students, working with a stellar team of people to provide support to you and your fellow students. I'm confident that the transition will be a smooth one, especially since we've been preparing for the start of the fall semester all summer! My goal is to create a fun, safe, healthy, productive and inclusive environment where all Binghamton students can take full advantage of their personal potential while pursuing their educational goals.

As our newest freshmen and transfer students arrive, I ask our continuing students to help me welcome them to our Binghamton family! When you see them on campus, give them a warm hello and a smile as you introduce yourself to them. It will go a long way toward making them feel like they are part of our campus community. And consider offering some words of welcome to our newest students by tagging your posts #bwelcome.

I assure you that we are focused on both your life outside the classroom as well as the intellectual nourishment that you receive inside the classroom. We understand that your learning continues and is heightened by your involvement in student organizations and leadership experiences, and we are committed to the idea that every one of your experiences at Binghamton adds to your development and will help you succeed.

The Dean of Students Office includes a great team of people to support all of your needs as you explore the diverse experiences available at Binghamton. I encourage each and every one of you to get to know the many programs and services we offer.

We are also here for you if you run into any hurdles along your educational journey. It's our job to help you grasp, learn from, reflect upon and integrate your diverse University experiences, and weave them into the overall fabric of your lives as you prepare for your future.

You will invariably see me out and about – on and off campus. Be sure to stop and say hello, and feel free to contact me any time if you have any questions or need any assistance.

Best wishes for an extraordinary Binghamton experience, and GO BEARCATS!

Sincerely,

Randall M-J Edouard,
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs
and Interim Dean of Students
