Background

Karen Browne joined the faculty at Binghamton University in 2015 as adjunct clinical staff, then became a full-time clinical instructor, lecturer and course coordinator for the Decker School of Nursing in the undergraduate programs.

During her tenure at the Decker School, she also developed and teaches an online wound care course for the undergraduate programs. This course enhances student studies in the holistic care of patients with a variety of wound situations.

Browne's professional nursing background is in acute care medical-surgical nursing, community health, acute and long-term home care, hospice and palliative care case management.

She holds three nursing certifications in wound, ostomy and continence management, including being a certified wound ostomy continence nurse (CWOCN). Browne practices part-time in an acute care setting as a consultant for inpatient and clinic patient needs in these specialties.
