EOP 2018 Summer Program Orientation & Parent/Guardian Meetings

The EOP offers an orientation specifically for EOP freshmen newly admitted to Binghamton University (BU).

This orientation is an introduction to the BU EOP and the freshmen summer program, BEP (Binghamton Enrichment Program). BEP will be presented to the students and their parents/guardians, who are also invited to a session that will address any concerns that they may have. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to meet other freshmen as well as discuss course options and registration information for both the summer and fall semester.

Details for Orientation and Parent/Guardian Meeting:

 

  • EOP students and parent/guardians will learn the details about the mandatory summer program (BEP 2018, July 5th - August 4th) including course descriptions, on-campus housing information, safety and guidelines, academic advising and more!
  • Every EOP student will take (1) Diagnostic Math Assessment. Scores will be used to help place students in appropriate summer and fall courses. There are no calculators allowed for this exam.
  • Each EOP student will be introduced to their assigned EOP Counselor who will be their one-on-one contact for their entire Binghamton University enrollment.
  • Parents will spend some time with the EOP Director and Counselors to address parental concerns and to make sure that parents/guardians and family understand the responsibility that comes along with this wonderful opportunity.
  • Each EOP student will submit a graded writing assignment (*paper that has been turned in for an assignment in high school), and should be ready with a pencil or pen. a pencil and a pen.
  • Students will turn in all completed forms for the EOP summer program/BEP, and any other Binghamton forms.

 

There is no cost to register, but you are responsible for making your own transportation arrangements to the Orientation and Parent/Guardian Meeting in NYC. Families attending the June 9th session in Binghamton, may be eligible for a discounted charter bus ride. See the EOP Orientation Form.

The EOP Orientation and Parent meetings are listed below. Students attending EOP at Binghamton University MUST be present at any one of the following EOP orientations. Participation in the EOP orientation is a prerequisite to attend the EOP BEP summer program. Fall admission to Binghamton University is contingent upon attending both the orientation and the entire BEP summer program.

Please select the time and location that you plan to attend. Transportation to the EOP Orientation in NYC is at your own cost. Again, there is no charge to register for the EOP Orientation and Parent/Guardian Meeting. Students must be present for the entire event.
