How my gift matters

Your support makes a difference

Donor support makes the Binghamton University experience the best it can be. Like most public universities, the University receives only a small portion of its revenue from the state. Sometimes, federal dollars are allocated to a specific project or infrastructure needs. While New York state may pay for building construction, it does not cover the expense of buying necessary furnishings to bring those spaces to life. Meanwhile, tuition covers just a fraction of the cost of a student’s education. Donors help bridge the gap, providing invaluable support for scholarships, faculty excellence, strategic University initiatives and high-impact learning experiences for students, such as research immersion opportunities, networking and internships. In addition, gifts and endowments enable the University to weather lean years, when budget cuts and competing priorities result in greater challenges for public institutions.

For alumni

Giving back to support Binghamton is critical to the continued success of your alma mater. The best public universities have the strongest alumni support. By increasing alumni giving participation, we elevate the University’s rankings and reputation, which in turn helps strengthen the value of your degree. Making gifts to support Binghamton also demonstrates your pride in the University and ensures current students have opportunities like you had when you were a student.

For faculty and staff

As a faculty or staff member at Binghamton, you show your support by doing excellent work and giving your time and expertise to advance the University. Making gifts to support Binghamton is another way you can demonstrate your pride and investment in the University. And because you are at Binghamton, you get to see the impact of your support firsthand — on your students and colleagues, across campus and in the community. It takes all of us joining in and working together to maximize student success and the strength of our University.

For parents

Involved parents enhance student success at Binghamton. Tuition and state support alone do not cover the full cost of a premier education. Your generosity gives students access to enriching extras that make a great Binghamton experience truly extraordinary. Parent donors have supported life-changing internship opportunities for students, fun social activities and meaningful student life initiatives, and provided emergency support for students in need.

Another way parents can make a difference is by joining the Parents Leadership Council.

For students

Student Philanthropy Council

The Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) educates students about the impact donors have on their lives at Binghamton. Donors help fund internships, networking events, career services, research opportunities and more. The SPC also asks seniors to give back to Binghamton to support the next class of students. Student participation makes a difference!
