Assistant Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences

School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Background

KC Mei received his PhD in pharmaceutical science from King's College London (University of London). He is a board certificated pharmacist (Taiwan) and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK). Mei has also worked as a formulation scientist in the pharma industry for three years, specializing in controlled-release formulations. In the UK, Mei worked on synthesizing carbonaceous nanomaterials and investigated their pharmacokinetics and bio-nano interactions on the blood-brain barrier.

Mei came to the United States for his postdoctoral training at UCLA School of Medicine and the UNC School of Pharmacy to work on lipid-based biomaterials and drug delivery for immune-modulating cancer therapeutics.

His current research at Binghamton is focused on spatial biology-driven molecular pharmaceutics. This involves investigating tissue microenvironment (e.g., solid tumor) and profiling the complex immune interplays to better understand how to design and synthesize the next generation of molecular therapeutics and drug/gene delivery systems.
