Biospecimen Archive Facility

The Biospecimen Archive is dedicated to the restoration, archiving, and storage of biological specimens collected under the ethical and legal guidelines of the National Institute of Health (NIH) and all existing international standards of the time for biomedical and bioanthropological research from isolated and modernizing human populations.

The collection archived and housed in the Biospecimen Archive Facility at Binghamton University is unique among archives and biorepositories, and is open for use by all qualified researchers who have an approved IRB protocol.

University Affiliations

The Biospecimen Archive is associated with the Graduate Program of Biomedical Anthropology at Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY, and provides research, teaching, and training support to faculty and students in the program.

The facility trains all Biomedical Anthropology graduate students as part of a required course, and has funded numerous trained graduate student employees through past grants.
