BU COVID-19 Study

We are a team of researchers at Binghamton University studying how people make decisions during epidemics.  If you participate in the study, you will be paid for your time and also help advance scientific knowledge about people’s behavior in epidemics. The study seeks only subjects who are currently living or staying in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, New Jersey, Florida, or Massachusetts. To participate, you must be currently living or staying in one of those states and plan to be there for the next 30 days.

This research has been approved by the SUNY Binghamton University Human Subjects Research Review Office (IRB) (Study # 00002341).  The research is conducted by Dr. Plamen Nikolov, Dr. Andreas Pape and Dr. Ozlem Tonguc.

The study will happen over the next few weeks. It will be online (no in-person interviews will be conducted). Your study participation is expected to take approximately 20 minutes during the first week and approximately 10 to 35 minutes per week over the course of four weeks. You will be compensated approximately $8 per hour. The compensation is contingent on your uninterrupted participation in all four weeks of the study and your cooperation into answering brief follow-up questions by members of the research team over phone or Zoom. The follow-up questions are only to verify the quality of the data collected in our study.
