Farida Badr

Background

Farida Badr currently teaches at Binghamton University and has made significant contributions to military and K–12 online language programs. Throughout her career, she has left her mark at numerous institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, Florida State University, Aarhus University in Denmark, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of South Carolina, the University of Montana, the American University in Cairo, Middlebury College, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Queens University, Concordia College, UNC Greensboro, Fayetteville State University, NC Virtual K–12, Durham Technical Community College, and Fort Liberty Military Base.

Badr is an Arabic teaching professor and ACTFL OPI-certified tester. She served as dean of Al-Waha at Concordia College during the summer of 2023; she has also coordinated Arabic immersion and placement testing programs across several universities, including UNC–Chapel Hill, University of South Carolina, Florida State University and UNC–Greensboro. She also served as facilitator of the Arabic Language House at Florida State University from 2023 to 2025.

Her academic background includes a PhD in education, an MA in TAFL, dual BAs in archaeology and educational technology, and several graduate diplomas in Islamic Studies, prehistory and translation. She has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, volunteer service and curriculum development.
