Annual Health Fair

A focus on health and wellness resources

Binghamton University hosted its Annual Health Fair from 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Recreation Center, East Gym. The annual event, hosted by Binghamton University Dining Services in partnership with the Department of Campus Recreational Services and the Healthy Campus Initiative: B-Healthy, focuses on the health and wellness resources available to the University community, both on campus and off. The fair is one of the most widely attended events on campus with over 1,000 visitors each year. Those who attend have the opportunity to participate in or watch fitness demos, get a chair massage, visit with over 50+ health and wellness vendors as well as sample fresh and healthy foods. The fair provides a relaxed and fun atmosphere for students, faculty/staff and community members to learn more about creating balance and healthy behaviors, as well as become familiar with all of the on- and off-campus resources that are in place to support our culture of well-being.

This year’s special workshop at the Health Fair was called “Flex your Gratitude Muscle!” and it provided an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community members to both learn about the science and benefits behind gratitude and have the several opportunities to practice it. Participants were able to create a gratitude object, write a gratitude letter or take a gratitude photo. Several resources were provided as takeaways including gratitude journals, apps and meditation practices. Flex your gratitude Muscle complemented the Healthy Campus Initiative’s year-long focus on building resiliency and grit.
