The Community Engaged Teaching Fellows Program is a Center for Civic Engagement academic support initiative that guides faculty in the design and implementation of effective community-engaged teaching and learning. The 2020–21 cohort included:

• Jodi Dothwaite (research assistant professor, Master of Public Health Program and First-year Research Immersion Program Community and Global Public Health)

• Emrah Akyol (assistant professor, electrical and computer engineering)

• George Meindl (instructor, Environmental Studies Program)

• David Mixter (research assistant professor, Environmental Studies Program and anthropology)

• Sara Velardi (lecturer, geological sciences and environmental studies)

These five faculty fellows met monthly throughout the academic year, networking with like-minded peers and community partners and exploring best practices for community engagement. They developed eight community-engaged learning (CEL) designated courses to be offered during the 2021–22 academic year. 42 CEL courses were offered in the 2020–21 academic year, including ENVI 324: Urban Ecology and SPED 411: Introduction to Special Education.
