New York State University Police at Binghamton, fall 2022

Following a Campus Citizen Review Board recommendation, the Binghamton University Police Department ordered body cameras that were received in spring 2022. Training and implementation for these cameras began in late spring 2022 and continued through summer 2022. These cameras are in place and functional as of the beginning of the fall 2022 semester and are a valuable asset for incidents on campus.

Additionally, Lt. Steve Faulkner has been partnering with local municipalities on Youth and Police Initiative programming. The mission is to build trust and break down stereotypes between youth and police. Faulkner sought and received a $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation for South Central NY to fund the first cohort of 17 students. The goal is to expand and work with 60 students a year.
