Students can make career connections over winter break
This winter, as part of the New York City CONNECT program, Binghamton University students can meet with more than 130 alumni at the annual Networking Night from 5:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 at the Altman Building. Participating students will make valuable connections with successful alumni in career fields that interest them. Students of all majors and class years are encouraged to attend.
Networking Night assists students in expanding their professional network, which is essential when applying for internships and jobs. Binghamton alumni are invested in the success of current students and look forward to sharing career advice and expertise with them. Students can also explore a variety of careers through conversations with alumni in industries including law, entertainment, accounting, arts, IT, healthcare and more. Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so encourage your student to register on hireBING as soon as possible.
For many students, this will be their first time attending a networking event, so the Fleishman Career Center has created a list of helpful tips on the CONNECT website. Additionally, career consultants are available by appointment throughout the break to support students in preparing.
To increase the accessibility of Networking Night for students who live in upstate New York, the Alumni Office is providing a free bus to transport students directly from Binghamton University to the Altman Building and back. Space is limited, so students should register for this bus as soon as possible to reserve their seat.
Students can also network with alumni anytime throughout the year by joining Mentor Match, the University’s online platform that connects students with alumni mentors who are eager to share their wisdom and advice about professional life after graduation. There’s no cost to join, and it’s open to all Binghamton students. Connections can happen online, over the phone or in person, so students can communicate with their mentors when it’s convenient for them! Encourage your student to visit our website to learn more and create a free account. Once logged in, students will complete their profile and then be matched with potential mentors based on their career interests.
