Background

Gerardo Pignatiello's research focuses on crime and detective fiction (literature and film) in the Southern Cone of Latin America. His publications explore the work of writers Jorge Luis Borges, Antonio Di Benedetto, Rodolfo Walsh, Claudia Piñeiro, Luisa Valenzuela, Luisa Mercedes Levinson, Germán Maggiori, Ramón Díaz Eterovic and Gustavo Escanlar; and filmmakers Israel Adrián Caetano, Lucrecia Martel, Mariano Llinás, Fabián Bielinsky and Pablo Larraín. He has participated in international conferences and has published several articles about crime fiction in academic journals in Latin America, the United States and Europe.
