The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) offers rewarding opportunities for students to connect with the greater Binghamton area, helping them become active, engaged citizens and better leaders, while strengthening the University’s bonds with our local community.

Binghamton students can easily find one-off, or short-term, local service opportunities by searching the CCE’s Community Opportunities Directory. Those looking for long-term commitments can apply for a CCE signature program, like the Leaders in Engagement, Advocacy and Democracy (LEAD) program or the Youth Initiative.

The LEAD program allows students to participate in recurring community service, seminars and more to equip them to become future community leaders. The Youth Initiative offers regular volunteer hours and internship opportunities in local schools. Those with further questions about these programs can email cce@binghamton.edu.

Community-Engaged Learning and Research Showcase

On Monday, April 15 from 4–6 p.m. in Old Union Hall, The CCE will hold its annual Community-Engaged Learning and Research Showcase. The event will highlight posters featuring community-engaged learning or research projects resulting from strong partnerships between faculty, students and the community! The showcase is a great opportunity to:

  • Appreciate the collective impact of successful community-engaged projects
  • Hear faculty and students describe the value of experiential learning beyond the boundaries of the classroom
  • Celebrate what we can accomplish together

Visit the Center for Civic Engagement website for more information.
