  • IPE orientation events

Binghamton University's Interprofessional Education program begins for students with fall orientation. This is typically held via Zoom in August, prior to the start of classes.

The orientation is presented by the Interprofessional Curriculum and Planning (IPECAP) committee, as well as IPE course faculty.

The focus of orientation is to provide students with an introduction to IPE and its impact on health outcomes. The core competencies for IPE are also outlined. In addition, the foundational concepts of interprofessional collaboration and team-based care are presented in the context of three themes.

Each theme is presented by each team to illustrate the significance of team-based care and collaboration in real-world situations. The teams stress the importance of communication, role and responsibilities, and trust.

The three themes for orientation are:

    1. Teamwork is a powerful tool.
    2. Interprofessional teamwork makes a difference.
    3. Your role on the interprofessional team
