If I could go back, I would have considered Binghamton.
I'm a graduate of a State University of New York (SUNY) college and have made higher education my career by working in admissions for over 10 years. I guess I loved my college years so much that I kind of “stayed” in college.
I have few regrets, but as I reflect on my college search, I realize I would have changed a few things. I’m happy, though, that I have the opportunity to impart this knowledge to prospective students:
- I would have considered more academic interests.
- I would have considered a variety of smaller and larger institutions.
- I would have studied abroad.
- I would have considered the value of a college and what that translates to, during and after my undergraduate years.
- I would have sought alumni perspectives.
- I would have visited more campuses (a scary note – I didn’t visit any! )
Had I considered all these factors, Binghamton – considered the premier public university in the northeast – would have been on my list. EASILY.
Note: I mentioned changing some things about my college search process. In the end, you want to select the institution that's the right fit for YOU. I found the college that suited me best, and you will find yours.
