Cordelia Martin-Ikpe, PhD, MPH

Background

Cordelia Martin-Ikpe, a Harpur College Presidential Diversity Postdoctoral Fellow in Africana Studies, specializes as a health geographer. Her research underscores the nexus between neighborhood socioeconomic characteristics and racial health disparities in the urban post-industrial cities of the Midwest and mid-Atlantic United States. She is also involved in projects that explore the complex interplay between globalization and population health.

With a dedication to health equity and spatial justice, Martin-Ikpe’s research methodology is rooted in a blend of spatial theories, combined with both quantitative and qualitative techniques. A strong emphasis on community engagement, actionable policy insights and interdisciplinary partnerships further distinguishes her work. Beyond research, Martin-Ikpe is an environmental health instructor and an active member of Binghamton’s Sustainable Communities Steering Committee.
