TISSUE AND BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING LABORATORY OPENINGS

Graduate Research Assistantship in Biomolecular and Tissue Engineering Laboratory

A graduate research assistantship for a student pursuing a PhD degree is available in the Laboratory of Biomolecular and Tissue Engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Binghamton University (State University of New York).

The laboratory focuses on fundamental study of stem cell differentiation and interplay between cells and their microenvironments with an ultimate goal of generating cell-based therapeutics for cell-based therapy. The lab also focuses on interrogating the molecular mechanisms underlying the synergistic regulation of physiochemical signals by tissue cues to which cells are exposed in vivo, leading to the development of bioinspired materials and substrates for directing cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and assembly into a functional tissue or organ in vitro.

Applicants with a master's or bachelor's degree in biochemical engineering or bioengineering are preferred. Applicants must have a grade point average (GPA) higher than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from both bachelor’s and master’s level coursework. Experience with laboratory techniques in molecular and cell biology is highly desirable. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resumé indicating GPA, GRE, TOEFL, working experience, and the names and contact information of three references electronically to Professor Sha Jin, director of Biomolecular and Tissue Engineering Laboratory, at sjin@binghamton.edu

Deadline: Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found.
