Graduate Student Awards Program
Each spring, the faculty of the Chemistry department select outstanding graduate students to receive awards based on performance. The Department is pleased to announce the recipients of the following awards for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Zappert Award - Innocent Achari & Tak ian chio
American Chemical Society, Binghamton Section
$100.00 scholarship to an outstanding graduating Ph.D. student. Awarded at the annual
Section "Student Awards" dinner in May.
Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award - sarah otieno
Chemistry Department
$200.00 to a graduate student demonstrating outstanding teaching abilities. Picture
taken and check awarded at a luncheon for student, director of TA’s, student’s advisor,
and Department Chair.
Outstanding Research Assistant Award - yunxiang xie & elias ndaru
Chemistry Department
$200.00 to a graduate student demonstrating outstanding teaching abilities. Picture
taken and check awarded at a luncheon for student, director of TA’s, student’s advisor,
and Department Chair.
Outstanding Service and Outreach Award - No nomination in 2021

$4,000 to an exceptional graduate student who is not fully funded for summer research
using spectroscopy in physical chemistry, chemical physics, or other fields of chemistry
in this order of preference.
Clifford E. Myers Summer Research Grant - Krystal lee & ezer castillo

$4,000 to an exceptional graduate student who is not fully funded for summer research
in materials chemistry.
