BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University will participate in Sexual Assault Awareness Month throughout the month of April. Various campus organizations, including the Dean of Students Office, Real Education About College Health (REACH), the Women's Student Union and 20:1 Sexual Assault Prevention, will work together to help raise awareness. The first two events will take place April 5-7. These events are free and open to the public.

Lauren Hogg, a survivor of sexual assault, will talk about her struggles as a survivor of sexual assault and how she has coped over the years at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the Mandela Room, in the University Union, on campus. Students will also gain knowledge on the various resources that Binghamton University and the local area have to offer in case of an interpersonal violence incident.

On April 6 and 7, students will have the opportunity to write and draw positive messages to show support for survivors of sexual assault and remind all that sexual assault will not be tolerated within the University community, or anywhere near. This piece of art will later be hung up in the MarketPlace, in the University Union, for a year.
