Background
Pamela Mischen, associate professor of public administration, conducts research focused on local government capacity to create sustainable communities; knowledge management and inter-organizational networks in the public sector; and complex adaptive systems. Her current research includes sustainable community metrics, computer simulations of adaptive capacity and local government capacity in small communities.
Mischen is a member of the Sustainable Communities Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence (TAE) steering committee and the Center for the Collective Dynamics of Complex Systems (CoCo). She teaches courses in public management networks, performance management, program evaluation, and sustainability systems and science. Mischen is a member of the board of trustees of Roberson Museum and Science Center and the advisory board of the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition of United Way of Broome County. She also works in the president’s office as the faculty advisor to Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger, where she focuses on strategic planning and sustainability issues.
