  • Center for Civic Engagement Renamed Center for Community Engagement

The Center for Civic Engagement will now be known as the Center for Community Engagement. Still operating under the “CCE,” this new name reflects the evolution of the CCE’s work since its establishment and better represents the role they play in fostering meaningful partnerships between the University and the community.

While retaining civic engagement as a priority, the scope of the CCE’s work has expanded. The CCE focuses on supporting community-engaged learning, research, and service through partnerships with the community that strengthen student learning. They also serve as a hub for supporting and advancing community engagement across the University, providing resources and opportunities that connect students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

The name “Center for Community Engagement” more accurately reflects its mission, aligns with Binghamton University’s commitment to community engagement, and highlights its growing role in engagement efforts across campus, while continuing to encourage everyone to participate in and contribute to civic and community life.

If you have or are distributing any materials under the “Center for Civic Engagement” name, contact the CCE to receive new promotional materials.
