The H. Richard Naslund Geology Undergraduate Field Study Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate Binghamton University Geology Major who plans to attend a Field Study Program. Eligible students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and demonstrated financial need. Students may apply by contacting the undergraduate director (Alex Nikulin) with information on the field study program that they will be attending.

Applications are due by March 1.

• Binghamton University offers a few options for funding conference travel and research. 
• Harpur Edge provides a variety of professional, intellectual, and personal development opportunities including financial support for research and travel.
• The Northeast Section of the Geological Society of America provides funding opportunities for undergraduate students to attend the regional or national annual meeting and to conduct research. 
• The Rochester Academy of Science awards small grants to undergraduate college students involved in science research to promote interest in science among young people. https://rasny.org/student-grant-program

• The Graduate School at Binghamton University offers a few options for funding conference and research travel to your graduate education. 
• The Geological Society of America: Financial assistance is offered to undergraduate and graduate students who are members of GSA for travel to both the GSA Geographic Section meetings and the national GSA Annual Meeting.

Research Grants:

• The Graduate School at Binghamton University has compiled a short list of funding agencies. These are not specific to geosciences. 
• American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG): To cover expenses directly related to their thesis work such as field work, laboratory analyses, etc.
• American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG): To assist graduate students with college education costs and to promote student participation in the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG). 
• American Museum of Natural History: Seed research grants are available for students and young professionals intending to do field-based research, as well as to use the AMNH collections. 
• The Geological Society of America (GSA): The primary role of the GSA research grants program is to provide partial support of master's and doctoral thesis research in the geological sciences for graduate students enrolled in universities in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America.
• J. David Love Field Fellowship: This Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student conducting geological field research in the Rocky Mountain region. 
• Paleontological Society: Advancing knowledge and understanding of paleontology and life’s evolution through research, education, and advocacy.
• Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG): The RMAG Foundation supports earth science research for graduate, and selected undergraduate students, by offering scholarship awards each year.
• Sigma Xi: Provides research grants to undergraduate and graduate students in most areas of the sciences and engineering by encouraging close working relationships between students and mentors.
• Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts Foundation: The Foundation was established in 1985 to encourage and support grant award college and university students and faculty members engaged in research studies and educational projects directly related bearing a reasonable relationship to formation evaluation.
• Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM): Supporting student research broadly in sedimentary geology.
• Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP): Advancing the science of vertebrate paleontology throughout the world.
