How do you apply for aid?

At Binghamton University, you must file a FAFSA every year in order for us to provide you with a financial aid offer.  To file, go to studentaid.gov.

For fall 2024 and spring 2025, a 2024-25 FAFSA is required.  Binghamton's recommended FAFSA filing dates are as follows:

  • New fall 2024 admitted undergraduate students:  March 15
  • New fall 2024 transfer undergraduate students:  March 15
  • Returning undergraduate and all graduate students:  April 15

Note:  these dates are "recommended" filing dates; not a deadline.

Before you can submit this free application, you must create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID.  The FSA ID is an account username and password that you'll use throughout the financial aid journey.  We strongly recommend you create your FSA ID as soon as possible to prevent processing delays when you fill out the FAFSA (and it only takes a few minutes!).

When will Binghamton University receive my 2024-25 FAFSA information?

We will begin receiving 2024-25 FAFSA information in mid-March 2024.  We will send an email notification to let students know once we have received their FAFSA.

New York state residents: "TAP" into additional aid

If you’re a resident of New York state and are or will be an undergraduate student, you may be eligible for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) awards. After filing your FAFSA, you will be able to link directly to the TAP application from the FAFSA confirmation page.

Remember to include Binghamton University on your application so award information will be sent to us.

New York state residents: Excelsior Scholarship

The Excelsior Scholarship, in combination with other student financial aid programs, allows students to attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition-free.  This funding requires a separate application.
