MEAMS Undergraduate Translation Contest (2021-2022)
The Department of Middle Eastern and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (MEAMS) is pleased to announce its second annual translation contest for students studying Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, Ancient Greek, and Latin.
I. Contestants must choose their text in consultation with a member of the MEAMS faculty by December 31, 2021.
II. Translations must be submitted by April 30, 2022.

Comics artist visits classics class:
On Thursday, 7-Nov, JB Brager visited Professor Tina Chronopoulos' class, "America and Classical Antiquity," and
gave a presentation at the campus Q Center. JB, a recognized comics and zine artist,
as well as holding a PhD in Women’s & Gender Studies from Rutgers University, gives
workshops and talks relating their areas of expertise — read more about it in Pipe Dream.
Arabic Fulbright Teaching Assistant Presents on Egypt:
Last 9-May 2019, Elsayed Elsisi, the 2018/19 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant
(FLTA) in Arabic, presented on "Egypt, Mother of the World." Students were treated
to a wonderful slide show on Elsayed's home country, and got to partake of delicious
