About the program

The Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy program builds on your experience as an occupational therapist, while teaching you the knowledge and skills you need to advance beyond therapist-clinician into areas such as occupational therapy education, clinical research, clinical practice, leadership or advocacy. 

The 36-credit-hour, part-time, PP-OTD program uses a distance-learning format, with classes in late afternoons and evenings. You will attend online courses at specific times but complete assignments and participate in discussion boards when it’s most convenient for you.

The program is designed to be completed in five continuous semesters; semesters are composed of two 7-week sessions.

To be eligible for admission into Binghamton's online Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy, applicants must:

  • Hold a master’s degree
  • U.S. applicants must have graduated from an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy program
  • International applicants must have graduated from a World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) approved occupational therapy program
