Bob Schmidt, PharmD
System Director of Pharmacy United Health Services
Robert Schmidt, PharmD, is currently the system director of pharmacy for United Health Services, in Binghamton, N.Y. He provides pharmacy leadership for the system's three community hospitals, one critical access hospital and four community pharmacies. In this role, Schmidt provides oversight of all pharmacies to ensure services are provided according to legal and accreditation requirements in a safe, efficacious and cost-effective manner. In addition, he coordinates the short- and long-term strategic planning for system pharmacy services. Prior to coming to United Health Services, Schmidt served as the system director of pharmacy for the Guthrie Healthcare System located in Sayre, Pa.
Schmidt has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to both the pursuit and support of education. He received his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the Albany College of Pharmacy and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University. He has also completed graduate studies in non-clinical areas, receiving a Master of Business Administration degree from Syracuse University and a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Scranton. Throughout his career, Schmidt has been active in the professional development of future pharmacists. Currently, he holds an appointment as adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy and is preceptor of the Pharmacy Administration rotation for the United Health Services PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program.
Schmidt and his wife, Rene, currently reside in Endicott, N.Y. When not working, the family, including adult children Alexandra and Michael, enjoy time at their camp outside of Gouverneur, N.Y.
