On Feb. 18, 2026, University Police were notified of a burglary that occurred around midnight at a residence on Binghamton’s West Side leased by several students. The home was occupied at the time, and the burglary was interrupted by one of the residents. The suspect fled the area after being discovered and has not yet been identified.

The Binghamton Police Department is actively investigating the incident, and as of now, no one has been apprehended. The university police encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Binghamton Police Department at (607) 778-1911. The University Police will be assisting with the investigation wherever possible and can be reached at (607) 777-2393.

To help prevent similar crimes, ensure that all windows, doors, and other entry points are locked at all times. If a residence is to remain unoccupied for an extended period of time, it is advisable to inform the landlord/property manager in advance.
