On April, 22, 2026, the University Police received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the Binghamton University campus. The vehicle, a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) owned by Binghamton University, was taken from the main campus and later abandoned on Route 201.
The suspect has been identified, and formal charges are pending; however, the suspect is not expected to be held after being charged.

In light of this incident, the University Police would like to provide the following tips to help keep you and your property safe:
- Always secure your vehicle and remove any valuable items when it is unattended.
- Never leave your vehicle running while unattended.
- Never leave your keys inside the vehicle.
- Always keep your windows closed when your vehicle is unattended.
