On April 22, 2026, a university administrative office was alerted to a series of harassment and stalking incidents perpetrated by a single individual in the Fine Arts Building or within various performing arts departments. The University takes all reports of this nature seriously and is currently investigating these incidents to the fullest extent.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of this harassment or has information regarding these incidents, we encourage you to contact the University Police at (607) 777-2393. Information related to the incident can also be reported anonymously through the University Police website: https://www.binghamton.edu/police/anonymous-tips.html
This safety advisory aims to raise awareness about these incidents so that the campus community can make informed decisions about their own health and safety. Please keep the following personal safety tips in mind.
- We all play a role in keeping our communities safe. If you see something that doesn’t seem quite right, say something. In addition to the University Police, suspicious behavior can always be reported to your professor, teaching assistant, or any of the various support offices around campus.
- Be an active bystander. If you notice a friend or classmate in a bad situation, be ready to safely intervene and assist them, if necessary.
- Trust your instincts. If you feel uneasy or sense something is wrong, do not be afraid to be assertive or risk hurting someone's feelings. Do what you can to get yourself and those who may be with you out of that situation, or call for assistance.
