Graduation rates and placement

Binghamton University began conferring MPA degrees in 1995. Today, we have a global network of over 500 alumni. Almost half of our alumni have careers in the public sector; private sector alumni typically work for firms that serve the public interest.

The typical length of study for the MPA degree is two full academic years for a student entering in the fall semester and enrolling for full-time study each fall and spring, and completing an internship in the summer between the two academic years. Students beginning their program of study in the spring will be able to finish within two years with careful sequencing of courses and with more limited options for which electives to take.

The Binghamton University MPA program graduation rate is over 85%. Our program allows students to switch between full-time and part-time study at any time, as long as they are registered for at least 1 credit during every fall and spring semester. This allows students the flexibility to pursue relevant internship and employment opportunities.

We also have accelerated and dual degree students, who complete the MPA program in 1 or 3 years respectively. The typical length of study for the dual degrees is 3 years with careful coordination of courses in consultation with advisors in both departments.
